Trekking to Paria Bay and Waterfall

A beloved destination for many is the famous Paria Bay and Waterfall located on the Northern Range of Trinidad. It is one of the most captivating landmarks that Trinidad has to offer.

For all of you fit nature lovers this 2-3 hour hike may be a breeze but for those like myself, I found this trail to be somewhat challenging. Nonetheless, after hearing so many positive reviews about Paria, my mind had already been made up to visit this site at least once in my lifetime.

The hike starts at the Blanchisseuse Spring Bridge, through the forested North Coast, over uphill climbs and downhill sides, across Paria Bay and ends with a short trek to the majestic Paria Waterfall. The breath-taking views along this coastal trail definitely did not disappoint as I became engrossed by the surrounding beauty.

Before reaching Paria Waterfall, one will encounter beaches, caves, arches and other natural formations which provide a glimpse into the wonders that can be found in secluded parts of Trinidad.

Just take a look at the scenery in the picture below. Don't you feel compelled to visit this enchanting sight right this minute?

Also along the way, jutting out into the sea one cannot afford to miss the magnificent peninsula known as Turtle Rock. As the name suggests, one may come across turtles which frequent the adjacent ocean. With its stunning panoramic view of the surrounding Caribbean Sea, this spot is an ideal backdrop when taking photos.

Just before reaching your eventual destination, Paria Waterfall, you will come across the captivating natural rock known as Cathedral Rock or Paria Arch as you enter Paria Bay Beach. Here you have the option to swim in the blue waters or simply sit and relax by the sea or under a tree until it is time to move on to the last leg of the hike.

The Paria Waterfall is a refreshingly short walk 15 minutes inland from the scenic Paria Beach. Following the river located at the eastern end of the beach, one comes across one of the most remarkable hidden waterfalls. Clean, clear, pristine waters of the Northern Range tumbles over 10ft of rocks into the refreshing and blissful plunge pool, to rejuvenate the body and mind for the hike out.

Look at this magical sight! Take a relaxing swim or jump off the cliff into the refreshing waters as a reward for enduring this vigorous journey through the North Coast Forest.

Hopefully, I have caught your interest into venturing to the treasure that is Paria Bay and Waterfall. This hike is great for everyone, even inexperienced hikers and is open all year round to the interested public. Book your tour now and make your dream come true.
