Kayaking in Chaguaramas

Nothing to do this weekend? Try Kayaking!

If you love the water like I do, then come and experience kayaking in Chaguaramas. This fun activity will allow you to work out your arms while taking in the gorgeous views of the North-Western peninsula. You may even get the chance to spot marine iguanas on the rocks and in the sea, and capuchin monkeys in the trees.

You can begin your experience at Williams Bay, which is actually a great place to kayak. This bay provides you the opportunity to kayak in a relatively sheltered bay as the north-western peninsula blocks the currents of the Caribbean Sea.

You even have a chance to witness a new fixture at Williams Bay - Trinidad's "Silver Surfer" (taken from the Fantastic Four Comics). His attire is a full silver body suit, silver face paint, and a surf or boogie board covered entirely in aluminum foil and powered by a motor.

I must say, my friends and I, who are also beginners, had an amazing time at this bay. The staff at Kayak Rental Centre were very friendly, knowledgeable and took all appropriate safety measures, putting us very much at ease. I would recommend this activity to anyone who is not afraid of physical work. If you are looking for a relaxing escape, this is not to be missed. It is fun for the whole family, couples, and groups.

When paddling along the western and southern sides of the bay one should be alert to the various boats that enter and depart from the various marinas, particularly on weekends.
